My Top 10 Favorite Books of All Time

Well, hello, and welcome to my brand new blog! I have been an avid reader since before I could even read to myself. I can remember flipping through books and literally wishing SO HARD that I could read those words. Next to reading, I love to collect books...old, new, mystery, YA, middle grade, sci/fi...whatever catches my fancy.

But enough about me for now. Let's get to this list! (These are in no particular order.)

P.S. I promise to make all of my posts 100% spoiler free.

1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

By far and away, my favorite book that I have read. I've re-read this book a few times and love it every.single.time. It's one of those classics that A. Does not read like a classic and B. Hangs in your head and haunts you for days after reading it. My only complaint is I wish Miss Bronte had revisited Mr. Rochester and Jane with a sequel. That would have been fantastic!

2. The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick

The original format of this book was something that I thought was completely mesmerizing. How Selznick wove the story into his beautiful illustrations won me over immediately. I wish he would come out with books more often.

3. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis

What's not to love? Magical in so many ways! My favorites in the series are The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and The Magician's Nephew.

4. The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom

My fifth grade teacher read this to my class and fueled the flame in my quest for further knowledge on WWII and the holocaust. I love history, but this is probably my favorite time period to read about. And this is DEFINITELY my favorite book from that time. Corrie ten Boom's story is heartbreaking, but filled with hope. Love it!

5. One Wintry Night by Ruth Bell Graham

One of the first books I can remember falling in love with. It's a Christmas picture book, with gorgeous illustrations, about a little boy that gets lost in the woods where an old woman finds him and gives him shelter until the blizzard has passed. In the meantime, she tells him stories from the Bible. This book will always be one of my favorites to read around Christmas.

6. And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie truly is the queen of mystery! She knows how to weave a story and keep you wondering "who done it?" until the last moment. I also love her Hercule Poirot series, but, this one stands out to me because it was the first one I ever read by her. I'm due for a re-read soon.

7. Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton

The movie is epic. The book is epic. In the words of one of my favorite booktube vloggers, "If you haven't read it, read it!".

8. Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson

A required reading book for me in high school that I ended up absolutely loving. The writing style takes a bit to adjust to. Get beyond that, though, and it's a swashbuckling good time. Aarrrrghhh! Avast ye mateys! ;)

9. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

My current favorite series and I'm super-duper anxious to see how it'll end. The next two books can't come out soon enough! Cyborgs, plagues, fairytale re-tellings, aliens...it's all of my favorite things wrapped into one sweet package.

10. Wayside School series AND Holes by Louis Sachar

All the books in the Wayside series and the stand-alone, Holes, are just incredible. They're wacky, they're delightfully readable, they're, in a word, awesome. I can't even tell you how many times I read these books when I was kid.

I hope you've enjoyed my first blog! I have many more books that I adore, but didn't make it on the list (this time!). What are some of your favorites from over the years? I'm always looking for new authors so shoot me some comments!

HAPPY READING
